The M706 Teletype Receiver is a double-height module designed to convert serial teletype data into parallel binary form. It facilitates asynchronous data transfer between serial lines (or teletype devices) and parallel binary systems.

• Data Conversion: Supports the assembly of 5-bit or 8-bit serial characters of varying unit lengths (e.g., 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 10.0, 10.5, or 11.0 units) through configurable pin connections.
• System Integration: Includes logic to reject spurious start bits (less than 1/2-unit long), provides device selector gating for use on a digital system's I/O bus, and supports half-duplex operation when paired with an M707 module.
• Interface Controls: Features multiple control signals, including I/O CLEAR, CODE SELECT, READ BUFFER, and FLAG outputs, which manage the timing and transfer of data from the internal shift register to the parallel outputs.

  • Serial Input: Uses a Schmitt trigger with hysteresis to filter noise and protect against voltage fluctuations.
