PDP-8/E Small Computer System Hardware Manual

This document provides technical information and hardware descriptions for various peripherals used with the PDP-8/E computer system. It is divided into four parts:

• Part 1: Console Teleprinter (LC8-E): Details the interface control for the LA30 DECwriter, covering its installation, description, IOT instruction set, and logic diagrams for the IOT decoder, printer receive, keyboard transmit, and interrupt/skip functions.
• Part 2: Paper-Tape Reader/Punch (PC8-E): Describes the high-speed reader/punch control (M840). It details the IOT instructions for reading and punching, as well as the underlying logic for tape reading, motor control, status monitoring, and punch buffer management.
• Part 3: X/Y Plotter (XY8-E): Covers the plotter control interface for various digital incremental plotters. It outlines IOT operations for pen movement, pen up/down commands, and the timing logic required to coordinate data transfer between the computer and the plotter.
• Part 4: Line Printer (LE8-E): Describes the control interface for 80- or 132-column line printers. It provides procedures for unpacking and checkout, as well as the operational logic for data transfer, interrupt handling, and IOT instructions used to manage line printing operations.
