This document is a weekly internal newsletter from Digital Equipment Corporation, dated January 24, 1983. It announces several key changes and information for employees:

  • Sales Restructuring: Digital is implementing a new structure for U.S. sales management by creating three Area Management Centers. Each center will be responsible for geographic sales, revenue plans, backlog management, and operational goals within its designated region. These centers will consolidate functions previously spread across existing U.S. Area Regions.
  • Management Appointments: Jack Shields is the vice president and group manager overseeing these changes. Dave Grainger will manage the Western, Southwestern, and Central Regions. Harvey Weiss will manage the Mid-Atlantic and Southern Regions, including the Government Products Group. Chick Shue will manage the Northeast States Area, including the Communications Industry Group.
  • Operational Shifts: Business operations previously handled by product groups, such as revenue plans, backlog management, and product forecasting, will be moved to the new Area Centers. Owen Brown will manage this transition.
