ULTRIX/SQL NET User’s Guide

This document is the ULTRIX/SQL NET User's Guide, published in June 1990 by Digital Equipment Corporation. It is designed for ULTRIX/SQL Version 1.0 (based on INGRES Release 6.2) running on ULTRIX Version 4.0 or higher.

The guide explains how to:

• Access remote databases (both ULTRIX/SQL and Rdb/VMS databases) over a network, detailing the syntax and requirements.
• Initialize and configure ULTRIX/SQL NET on both local and remote nodes, including setting up connections, managing error logging, and establishing user accounts.
• Utilize the netu utility, a core network management tool, for tasks such as defining remote nodes (virtual node names), setting up user authorizations to remote accounts (both global and private), and modifying or deleting these configurations.

The manual targets a dual audience: end-users who need to access remote databases, and ULTRIX/SQL System Administrators/Database Administrators responsible for installing, maintaining, and setting up network access and user authorizations. It covers protocols like TCP/IP and DECnet.
