This document provides product notes for the SWSD3-SD, a 3.5-inch, 2.10-GB (2105 MB formatted) disk drive preformatted and pre-labeled for Sun systems.

• Performance: Average read access time of 15.4 ms (9.9 ms seek + 5.5 ms latency) and average write access time of 16.9 ms (11.4 ms seek + 5.5 ms latency). Media transfer rates up to 5.4 MB/s, and a Fast SCSI-2 interface supporting synchronous data transfers up to 10 MB/s (or 5 MB/s asynchronous).
• Cache: A 256-KB segmented cache buffer, programmable into 1 to 16 segments (default 3 segments, approximately 80 KB each) to maximize hit rates for sequential reads.
• Data Integrity: High data integrity is ensured by a 96-bit Reed-Solomon Error Correction Code (ECC) and a 32-bit Error Detection Code (EDC), offering "on-the-fly" detection and correction of data errors.
• Reliability: Rated for a 500,000-hour Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
• Advanced Features: Supports downloadable SCSI firmware, programmable sector size reallocation, tagged command queuing, background queue processing, and self-diagnostics. It adheres to UL, CSA, and VDE standards.
• Pre-configuration for Sun: The drive comes pre-partitioned with traditional partitions for quick installation. The /etc/format.dat information is provided for SunOS and Solaris systems, detailing the logical configuration and how the nsect value was derived.
• Physical & Environmental: Weighs 0.93 Kg (2.1 lbs), with typical power consumption of 10.8 W (8.6 W idle). Operating temperature range is 5°C to 50°C.
• Status Indicators: A green LED indicates drive activity (on/flashing when active), and an amber LED indicates a drive fault (on/flashing when an error occurs).
