The DIGITAL VNswitch 900FX is a high-throughput, SNMP-manageable, multiport network switch designed for connecting Fast Ethernet and Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) networks. It features two Fast Ethernet ports and one Dual Attachment Station (DAS)/Single Attachment Station (SAS) FDDI port, supporting front-insertable Modular Media Interface (MMI) cards for Fast Ethernet (MM-100) and FDDI (Mod-FDDI).

Key features of the module include hot-swapping capabilities, auto-configuration, management via SNMP and Command Line Interface (CLI), and firmware upgrades via TFTP. It supports advanced bridging functionalities like high-speed traffic filtering and forwarding, IEEE 802.1d spanning tree protocol, and multiple spanning trees. Ethernet features include half- and full-duplex operation with 100BaseTX and 10/100 Mb/s autosensing. FDDI features include full-duplex operation and frame format translation. The module also supports VLAN Secure Domains (VSDs) for enhanced network control and security.

  • Installation of the setup port cable for initial access and parameter setting.
