RouteAbout Central EI

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, configuration, and removal of the RouteAbout Central EI module. Designed as a central site bridge/router, it enables multiprotocol routing for linking remote sites through Wide Area Network (WAN) connections, supporting both Internet Protocol (IP) and Multiprotocol (MP) packages. The module features two Ethernet ports, four synchronous WAN ports, and twelve Basic Rate ISDN ports, built with standards-compliant technology for multivendor network compatibility.

• Product Overview: Detailing features such as hot-swap capability, system performance and memory, and robust configuration and management options. These include a command-line interface (CLI), Telnet, firmware upgrades via TFTP, Out-of-Band Management (OBM) via SLIP, and monitoring through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Digital's clearVISN. It also describes supported bridging (Spanning Tree, traffic filtering) and a wide array of routing protocols.
• Installation: Step-by-step procedures for installing the module into a DEChub 900 MultiSwitch or a DEChub ONE docking station, covering power checks, module seating, LED verification, and connecting various cables (WAN, ISDN, UTP/ScTP).
• Configuration: Detailed instructions for setting up the module using both menu-driven and command-line interfaces. This includes IP configuration (SNMP community strings, In-Band and Out-of-Band IP addresses, default gateway settings) and Out-of-Band Port configuration (speed and Request To Send - RTS).
