ServerWORKS Quick Launch Getting Started

This document serves as a "Getting Started" guide for Digital Equipment Corporation's ServerWORKS Quick Launch software, designed to simplify and enhance the installation of supported operating systems on DIGITAL Servers.

Quick Launch offers an easy-to-use interface to install operating systems like MS-Windows NT, Novell, SCO, and OS/2. It operates in two modes: "Boot Mode," initiated directly from the server, enables full system configuration, OS installation (including Express Install for automated deployments), and access to documentation and utilities. "Workstation Mode," run from a Windows PC, allows users to view tutorials, create driver/utility/diagnostic diskettes, and browse extensive documentation for all DIGITAL server models.

The guide outlines necessary hardware requirements, the step-by-step process for booting the server with the Quick Launch CD-ROM, and the importance of creating a 30-35MB MS-DOS partition for system utilities, drivers, and diagnostics. The Quick Launch Main Screen provides access to tutorials, comprehensive user documentation, technical service information, revision history, and the core installation utilities, including "Express Install," "Create Diskettes" for manual installations, and "Replicate" for efficiently deploying identical server configurations using previously saved settings.
