This document outlines the procedure for upgrading the texture memory of a DIGITAL PowerStorm 4D51T graphics option from 4 MB to 16 MB. The upgrade involves replacing the existing 4 MB texture memory module with a new 16 MB module. The process includes:
- Removing the graphics module from the system and placing it on an antistatic surface.
- Detaching the 4 MB texture memory module by removing its retaining screw and lifting it from its sockets.
- Inserting the 16 MB texture memory module (distinguished by having memory devices on both sides, unlike the 4 MB module which has them on one side) into the sockets, ensuring it is firmly seated.
- Reinstalling the retaining screw to secure the new module.
- Reinserting the graphics module back into the system.
A key note warns that the 4D51T's texture memory module is not compatible with texture memory DIMMs for other PowerStorm 4D40T/4D50T/4D60T graphics options. Users are cautioned against bending, twisting, or dropping the memory modules to prevent damage.
