FCO Customer Applicability Document

This Field Change Order (FCO CIPCA-BA-0001) addresses CIPCA-BA modules manufactured before August 1, 1997, which may experience increased CI/VMScluster collisions, re-transmissions, error counts, and arbitration issues. These symptoms are dependent on factors like module operating temperature, voltage, noise, and system activity, and are more common with faster processors. CIPCA-AA modules are not affected.

The solution requires replacing the existing CIPCA-BA dual module pair with updated revisions: the Port Module (30-46980-02) from B01 to C01, and the Link Module (30-46980-03) from A01 to B01. If the Link module is out of revision, both modules must be replaced with the CIPCA-BX (Rev. B01) EQ Kit (EQ-01758-01). All CIPCA options, regardless of variant, are to be replaced as pairs and returned for ECO.

The document details the installation procedure, which involves scheduling system downtime, shutting down the system, powering off, physically removing and replacing the CIPCA-BA pair (replicating switch settings), restoring power, and verifying the new modules via console tests. It emphasizes the critical importance of using all ESD safety precautions during handling. Implementation should be initiated with affected customers at their next service call, with an estimated Mean Time To Install (MTTI) of 0.8 hours.
