FCO BA23-1001, DC power cable overheats during normal use.

Order Number: 70-20450-01

This document is a Field Change Order (FCO BA23-1001) addressing an overheating DC Power Cable (P/N 70-20450-01) in all BA23-AX and BA23-BX boxes. The problem stems from the cable's current rating being derated by the manufacturer, making it unsuitable for the unit's requirements.

The FCO mandates replacing the problematic cable with a new one (P/N 17-01311-01). The installation process, estimated to take one hour, involves safely powering down the system, gaining access to the cable (with specific instructions for both cabinet and pedestal systems), disconnecting the old cable, installing the new one from the EQ kit, reassembling the system, and powering it back up for a self-test. A VELOSTAT Kit (P/N 29-11762) is essential during installation to prevent electrostatic discharge damage to sensitive components.

The FCO, released on December 5, 1986, affects an estimated 11,000 units, with initial kitting for 6,000 units. Post-installation, users are instructed to update their Site Management Guide and report LARS data.
