This Field Change Order (FCO 9XXX-S014) addresses critical safety and maintenance concerns on VAX 9000 systems arising from incorrect or missing labeling. Specifically, VAX 9000-210/110 systems have an inaccurate silkscreen on the PIP cover, an incorrect 280 DC wiring diagram, and a lack of fuse labels, all of which present potential safety hazards. Additionally, interconnect diagram labels are missing, and the nomenclature for power disconnect and present lights is obscured by system components.
The FCO provides a solution through the installation of new decals and labels, supplied in EQ Kits (EQ-01640-01, -02, -03). These include a PIP cover decal, a PIP fuse label, various interconnect and signal diagram labels for cabinet doors, and labels to correctly identify power disconnect and present lights. Installation procedures are detailed and vary depending on the specific VAX 9000 model (e.g., 9000-110/210, 9000-310 through 440), with some requiring system shutdown and others not. All necessary materials are provided free of charge, and the FCO activity must be reported on the LARS form.
