FCO 9XXX-0012, Caps difficult to assemble to buss bars, overheating...

The problem identified is the difficulty in assembling capacitors to buss bars, which causes severe overheating during the manufacturing process and leads to subsequent field failures.

The solution varies by system model:

• For VAX 9000 Models 410/420/430/440, the capacitors are to be replaced by a new X-Y Cap Card (P/N 54-21037-01). This printed circuit board assembly requires significantly less heat during capacitor assembly, resolving the manufacturing issue.
• For VAX 9000 Model 210, the entire DC filter assembly (P/N 70-27533-01) is to be replaced.

The installation is estimated to take 1.0 hour and requires a field service maintenance tool kit and a 9/16" deep socket wrench. The document provides detailed installation procedures for both Model 4xx and Model 210 systems, including system shutdown, power disconnection, removal of old components, installation of the new parts, and reassembly.
