FCO 9XXX-0007, T1061 XJA module contention problem causing "hangs"

This Field Change Order (FCO) 9XXX-0007 addresses a critical contention problem in VAX 9XXX systems caused by older revisions (T1061-00) of the T1061 XJA module. This issue, stemming from conflicts during internal register and XMI space reads, could lead to system "hangs" during boot on ULTRIX or system crashes (KAF) under heavy I/O loads on VMS.

The solution is to replace the problematic T1061 XJA module with a newer revision (E4, E5, E6, or E7), which is supplied as part number EQ-01624-01. This FCO is applicable to all VAX 9XXX systems and their field spares.

The installation involves a system shutdown, physical replacement of the module in slot 8 of the XMI Backplane, power-on, and verification through specific XJA diagnostics. The estimated installation time ranges from 1.0 to 2.0 hours, depending on the number of XJA modules in the system.
