This Field Change Order (FCO 882BA-1004) addresses Unibus timeout errors occurring in VAX 8800 systems. The problem is attributed to the Symmetric Multi-Processing (SMP) feature of VMS V5.0.

The solution requires retrofitting all VAX 8800 systems to Rev Level "E1," which updates the DB88 to Rev. Level "C1." This retrofit specifically incorporates ECO F1011-MK005, which is a new Part Rev B4. The installation involves replacing an F1011 NBIA Module with a Revision B2, B3, B4, or B5 module (part number EQ-01502-01).
