FCO 882BA-F007 Rev C, Corrects system recovering from brownouts.

Order Number: FA-04858-03

This Field Change Order (FCO 882BA-F007 Rev C) addresses reliability issues in VAX 8800/8820 Conf. N systems, specifically regarding recovery from "brownouts" and providing multiple corrections to the PRO Console Code. It supersedes Revision B (March 1990) and has been revised to correct the required microcode.

Installation of this FCO will update the system revision to "F1" and the PC37N revision to "N03". The primary solution involves updating the Nautilus Console Application to V9.3, which corrects problems from versions V9.0 and V9.1. This application, including a new NCON2 microcode (RX101 ISP MICROCODE), is available in Diagnostic Release 39 (April 1990).

Installation takes approximately 2.5 hours and involves removing any existing CONSOLE/PRODCL application, then installing the new CONSOLE/PRODCL application from a series of diskettes (CONSOLEDCL1, CONSOLEDCL2, NCON1-NCON5, NDIAG4) into the public library and system account. Finally, CONSOLE/PRODCL is set as the first application to run upon power-on.

After booting, the console microcode revision should display as V9.3 for a quick check of successful installation. Site Management Guides should be updated, and the FCO activity reported on the LARS form.
