This document provides instructions for installing and configuring a second H7895-AA power supply in AlphaServer 2000 series systems. It details three power supply operating modes: Single, Dual (Redundant), and Dual (Full Power).
The Redundant mode offers N+1 power redundancy for systems with up to one CPU and specific component configurations (up to 400 watts total). This mode requires the installation of both a current sharing cable and a J3 jumper on the I/O backplane, ensuring that the system can continue operating if one power supply fails.
The Full Power mode is designed for systems with two CPUs or higher power requirements (up to 725 watts total). This configuration also uses two power supplies but requires the J3 jumper on the I/O backplane to be removed.
The installation process includes performing a system shutdown, removing the front door and system cover, installing the second power supply, connecting the current sharing cable and all power supply harnesses, configuring the J3 mode jumper according to the desired operating mode, replacing the system cover and front door, and finally powering up the system. The document also provides environmental and electrical specifications for the power supplies and lists related documentation.
