AlphaStudio Record/Edit/View (REV) Station Hardware Installation Guide

This document serves as a hardware installation guide for the AlphaStudio Record/Edit/View (REV) station, a high-performance platform designed for broadcast video and video production. It outlines the necessary steps and specifications for installing the system, whether it comes preinstalled in a Digital cabinet or its components are installed separately in a customer's cabinet.

The AlphaStudio REV station comprises an AlphaServer 2100A LP system and three rackmounted BA356 StorageWorks shelves, along with factory-installed Digital UNIX and AlphaStudio software for managing digital video data. The guide details the physical, electrical, and environmental specifications for the entire station and its individual components.

Installation procedures covered include:

• Site Preparation: Ensuring the installation location meets environmental and clearance requirements.
• Unpacking the Shipment: Instructions for safely removing packaging, checking for damage, and moving the cabinet from its pallet using ramps and stabilizer bars, emphasizing safety precautions due to the cabinet's weight.
• Station Installation: Connecting SCSI cables (either checking factory connections or connecting new ones), customer-supplied audio/video cables, the VGA monitor, and power. It also provides steps for starting the system.
• Additional Cabinet Information: Procedures for removing/replacing cabinet side and filler panels, adjusting stabilizer bars, using the interlock system for stability, and servicing power distribution units.
