Model for Quality Assurance in Final Inspection and Test

Order Number: EL-00017-03

This document, DEC STD 017-3 - ISO 9003 - Quality Systems - Model for Quality Assurance in Final Inspection and Test (dated 17-Jun-1991), is an internal Digital Equipment Corporation standard. It is identical to the first edition of ISO 9003:1987.

Its primary purpose is to specify quality system requirements for situations where a contract necessitates a supplier to demonstrate their capability to detect and control nonconforming products solely during final inspection and test. This standard is applicable in contractual scenarios where product conformance to specified requirements can be confidently verified at the completion stage.

Key areas covered by the standard include management responsibility, document control, product identification, inspection and testing procedures, calibration of equipment, control of nonconforming products, handling, storage, packaging, delivery, quality records, training, and the use of statistical techniques.

It is presented as one of a series of ISO 9000 quality assurance models, specifically the one focusing on the final stage of quality control, and is mandatory for specified DEC sites.
