ISL File Naming Convention

Order Number: XX-A3C56-24

This document outlines a new naming convention for Initial System Load (ISL) executable files (ISL_LVAX.SYS and ISL_SVAX.SYS) used for MOP Down-line loading. The current naming practice leads to issues where users might receive incorrect file versions if the file content changes but the name remains the same. To resolve this, the proposed strategy involves appending the VMS version number to the ISL filenames (e.g., ISL_LVAX_056.SYS for VMS V5.6, ISL_LVAX_U3055.SYS for VMS V5.5-3). This will allow users to clearly identify the correct file for their desired VMS version. The document further recommends automating this renaming process within the existing DCL command procedure used for building kits, thereby preventing manual errors and ensuring consistent file naming before kits are released.
