RS06 Solid State RAM Disk

The RS06 Solid State RAM Disk is a MASSBUS upgrade for PDP-11 systems that emulates up to eight standard RS03 or RS04 disk drives (or a single 8MB drive) in a compact unit using 8 megabytes of DRAM.

It significantly enhances data performance by offering transfer rates up to 1.2 megabytes per second and eliminating rotational delay, which greatly improves system throughput, especially for disk-bound systems. The RS06 is designed for plug-and-play installation, requiring no software changes as it is transparent to PDP-11 operating systems supporting RS03/RS04 drives. It can be switch-configured for 0 to 8 disk drives of either type and is compatible with RH11/RH70 MASSBUS adapters.

Beyond performance, it frees up valuable floor space, saves energy (consuming only 20 watts), and ensures data integrity during power loss through an optional battery backup unit.
