Enrique Gomez Obituary

Order Number: XX-21BB1-AA

Enrique Gomez Rabago, known as a beloved husband, father, and "Abuelo," passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2022, after a long illness. Born on November 13th, 1950, in Mexico City, he grew up in Santa Ana, Tlaxcala, before moving to Mexico City. Driven to start a family and move to the U.S., he pursued a demanding academic path, earning dual master's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business from Boston University despite not knowing English initially.

He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in Westford, Massachusetts, where he formed lasting friendships, coached soccer, and played for a senior league. While developing a deep love for New England, he maintained a strong connection to his Mexican heritage, notably by hosting Mariachi parties. In 2006, his career led him to Doral, Florida. In retirement, he built a home in Tlaxco and cherished his role as an "Abuelo," sharing cookies with his grandchildren.

Enrique was known for his generosity with advice and tequila, his humor, sarcasm, and self-deprecating nature. He and his wife were also passionate animal rescuers, caring for a feral cat colony. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Concha, and brother Leopoldo. He is survived by his wife Liliana Guiterrez, his daughters Esther Gomez Splawn and Anne Gomez, two grandchildren, his brothers Rafael, Juan Bosco, Gustavo, and Francisco (Paco), and numerous nieces and nephews.
