Robert "Bob" Armand DeGuise, 79, of Amherst, NH, passed away unexpectedly on August 8th, 2024. Born on April 3rd, 1945, in Franklin, NH, Bob was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and Franklin High School. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, including deployments to Vietnam and Korea, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969.
Bob's career spanned various fields, starting as a jet engine test technician at Pratt & Whitney. He then transitioned into sales as a regional director for Holiday Magic, where he mentored cosmetic salespeople. Later, he moved into high tech, working as a programmer at Associated Data Systems (where he met his wife) and as a software developer at Digital Equipment Corp. He also worked in business process consulting, specializing in manufacturing operations. Bob and his wife traveled extensively for business and leisure, particularly enjoying their time in Geneva, Switzerland, the UK, Japan, and China. In the 2000s, he semi-retired and focused on woodworking and ancestry.
Known for his righteous, honest, and moral values, Bob was cherished for his smile, laugh, quick wit, and intellect. He was predeceased by two siblings, Gerard "Jack" DeGuise and Cecile Lockwood. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Basiliere) DeGuise; his brother Paul DeGuise and wife Gail; sister-in-law Nancy Deguise; sister-in-law Jane and husband Alan Heacock; and three brothers-in-law, Paul, Thomas, and Robert Basiliere, along with their respective partners. He also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and an extended family of cousins.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack, NH, on August 26th from 3-6 PM, followed by a service on August 27th at 12 PM in the chapel at the NH Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and online condolences can be left at rivetfuneralhome.com.
