VCB02

This document is the Technical Manual for the VCB02 Video Subsystem, prepared by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC).

It provides detailed technical information for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and corporate end-users on the VCB02's features, specifications, configurations, installation, functions, logic, programming, and diagnostics, specifically within a VAXstation II/GPX workstation environment.

The VCB02 is a high-performance, high-resolution (1024 x 864 pixels) raster scan video subsystem. It supports either 4-plane (16 colors) or 8-plane (256 colors) display from a palette of 16.7 million colors, and is compatible with both MicroVMS and ULTRIX-32 operating systems. A standard configuration includes a base module and one or two 4-plane modules, offering three megabytes of video memory.

The manual is structured into five main chapters covering:
