VT1000/VT1200 & DECimage 1200

Release Notes

Order Number: EK-V1000-RN

This document comprises the release notes for the VT1000 Video Terminal V2.0 firmware, detailing problems, corrections, and restrictions.

Key points include:

  • Operational Notes: Quitting the Terminal Manager or Remote Session Manager returns the terminal to its initial state, and work should be saved.
  • X Session Issues:

    • A problem preventing X session login when a host device number exceeds 999 can be resolved by rebooting the host or applying a patch.
    • Remote Pause is not supported in UWS V2.1 for TCP/IP X sessions.
  • Customization and Configuration:

    • For TCP/IP security, using system names (instead of decimal dot notation IP addresses) is required if a BIND Name Server is present.
    • Due to hardware limitations, 19200 baud and 38400 baud speeds are mutually exclusive on the two serial ports.
    • A software update is needed for LAT support with multiple Ethernet adapters.
    • The font path cannot be changed without quitting the Terminal Manager once fonts have been used, and a lost link to a font server also necessitates quitting to reset the path. A font compiler is needed for non-DECwindows environments to convert fonts.
    • VT1000 VTE answerback messages only support printable characters.
    • 7-bit NRCS settings must be manually matched to non-US keyboards.
  • System Manager Information: A specific command correction for running remote X sessions is provided.
