ULTRIX-32

This document provides Release Notes for ULTRIX-32, Version 3.0, specifically for MicroVAX 3800/3900 and VAXserver 3800/3900 systems.

It outlines two critical installation and configuration adjustments:

1. KFQSA Disk Controller Installation: For systems with multiple disk drives connected to a KFQSA controller, users must manually edit the system configuration file during an "ADVANCED" installation. This involves:

   • Deleting all but one disk entry for each controller.
   • Making ra numbers sequential.
   • Changing drive numbers to match the physical unit plugs or switch settings. Failure to perform these edits during the ADVANCED installation will result in an incorrect configuration file, requiring manual correction and kernel rebuild after installation.

2. RF71 Disk /etc/disktab Correction: The document identifies an error in line 300 of the /etc/disktab file for RF71 disks. The incorrect entry :pc#781440:#8192:fc#1024: must be changed to :pc#781440:bc%8192:fc#1024: (correcting the block count syntax) before putting a file system on the C partition of any RF71 disk.
