DECstation 5000 Model 100 Pocket Service Guide

This document is the DECstation 5000 Model 100 Series Pocket Service Guide, published by Digital Equipment Corporation in August 1991.

Its primary purpose is to provide information for field maintenance of the DECstation 5000 Model 100 Series RISC workstation, specifically focusing on identifying and replacing failed Field Replaceable Units (FRUs).

The guide is structured into three main parts:

1. Troubleshooting Information: Covers various types of error messages (test failure, console exception, memory test), hardware addresses (slot numbers, memory addresses, physical addresses), ULTRIX error log event types and their specific fields (e.g., memory parity, CPU/bus timeout), diagnostic LED error codes with corresponding troubleshooting procedures, and details on CPU and system registers (Cause, MER, SIR).
2. Troubleshooting Tools: Describes the use of self-tests (power-up, quick, thorough), console mode tests and commands, specific test procedures for components like SCSI controllers, Ethernet controllers, and Serial Communication Controllers (SCC), and provides detailed troubleshooting flowcharts for a wide range of hardware problems.
3. Part Numbers: Lists part numbers and customer order numbers for various system components, including basic system components (CPU, memory, power supply), internal drives, TURBOchannel option modules, monitors, input devices, loopback connectors, and cords/cables. It also lists related hardware documentation.
