MicroVMS Workstation Software

This document serves as an installation and tuning guide for MicroVMS Workstation Software Version 3.2, designed for various VAXstation models. It provides step-by-step instructions for installing the software on VAXstation 2000, Color VAXstation 2000, VAXstation I, VAXstation II, VAXstation II/GPX, and within Local Area VAXclusters. The guide details crucial pre-installation requirements, such as ensuring sufficient disk space (minimum 8000 free blocks) and proper system account quotas (e.g., 16 open file, 1500 paging file, 2 subprocess, 250-500 working set), and outlines the process for loading the software from tape cartridges or diskettes.

Beyond installation, the guide covers VAXstation management and tuning, including the use of the operator window, adjusting window memory size for monochrome, color, and intensity systems, and modifying System Generation Utility (SYSGEN) parameters like CHANNELCNT, PQLMASTLM, PQLMBIOLM, and PQL_MDIOLM. It also explains how to add user-defined fonts, categorizing them as process-based, shareable process-based, or system-list fonts, and describes the necessary system tuning for each type.
