July 1994 OpenVMS VAX Consolidated Software Distribution - CDMENU, Version 2.0

Release Notes

Order Number: AV-QA9EA-TE

This document addresses a manufacturing error in the CDMENU utility (Version 2.0) found on discs 2 through 12 of the July 1994 OpenVMS VAX Consolidated Software Distribution. This error affects the product installation function (Option 6), specifically when an incorrect save set name is used in the VMSINSTAL command line, occurring if multiple VMSINSTAL kits are present or if the kit name doesn't match the product's root directory. The corrected version, CDMENU V2.1, is located on disc 1.

Three solutions are provided:

  1. Copy the corrected CDMENU V2.1 executable from disc 1 to a hard disk (e.g., SYS$MANAGER) and run it from there.
  2. Ensure disc 1 is always mounted first and specified as the initial entry in the CD_DIRECTORY logical.
  3. For products containing multiple kits, perform installations directly from the DCL command line using VMSINSTAL.
