AlphaServer GS80/160/320 Site Preparation

This document, the "AlphaServer GS80/160/320 Site Preparation" manual, is intended for customers and service personnel to prepare a site for the installation of Compaq AlphaServer GS80, GS160, and GS320 systems.

The manual is divided into two main chapters:

1. Overview: Introduces the Compaq AlphaServer GS80, GS160, and GS320 as high-performance, scalable, and expandable server platforms. It describes the general architecture, noting the GS80 as a rack-based system and the GS160/320 as box-based systems. It also provides block and physical diagrams to illustrate various system configurations and their components (e.g., Quad Building Blocks (QBBs), CPU, memory, I/O, and switches).
2. System Specifications: Provides detailed technical requirements crucial for site preparation. This includes:
   • System Dimensions: Measurements for various system and expander cabinets (e.g., width, depth, height).
   • Power Specifications: Comprehensive tables detailing power requirements (voltage, frequency, phases, maximum input current, total VA, heat output, power cord lengths, and required receptacle types) for different system configurations (GS80, GS160 with one or two system boxes, GS320 with three or four system boxes, and I/O expander cabinets) across U.S./Canada/Japan and European regions.
   • Environmental Specifications: Guidelines for operating and non-operating temperature, relative humidity, maximum altitude, and minimum clearances required around the systems for operation and service.
   • System Weights: Lists the weights of fully configured systems for all mentioned configurations.

The document aims to equip installers with the necessary information regarding space, power, and environmental conditions to ensure proper installation.
