The DECrepeater 900TL is a Token Ring repeater designed to extend network trunk and lobe distances for unshielded and shielded 100-ohm cable. It operates at network speeds of 4 or 16 Mb/s.
The device can be deployed in two main ways:
It supports management through optional HUBwatch software. The document details the device's front and rear panel components, including various LEDs (Power, Module OK, Ring A/B, Speed, Ring In, Ring Out) for status indication and troubleshooting, as well as switches for setting speed, managing Autowrap functionality (for automatic link loopback), and resetting the unit.
The guide provides comprehensive installation instructions for both MultiSwitch and standalone configurations, including how to connect to other repeaters, Multistation Access Units (MAUs), or network stations. It also includes important information on repeater cabling guidelines, specifying maximum cable lengths for different UTP levels and speeds between active units and passive MAUs.
A significant portion of the document is dedicated to troubleshooting, offering a detailed LED summary to diagnose issues like power failures, self-test failures, speed mismatches (where traffic loops back), and network management-related disconnections. Finally, it provides product specifications, including physical dimensions, weight, environmental operating conditions, power requirements, and regulatory certifications.
